Love’s Fire is a benefit for GARNER’s I am building 35 capital campaign, the new vision for GARNER Arts Center and the re-building and re-opening of the new GARNER Arts Center Gallery in building 35, the former mill cafeteria at the beautiful and historic factory complex in Garnerville, New York.

[section title=”Actors/The Continuum Company”]

Shakespeare’s Love Stories will be presented by The Continuum Company, a NY-based consortium of professional actors, writers and directors. A select group of veteran actors from Broadway, tv and film will present the vibrant love stories of the world’s greatest poet. The plays developed by The Continuum Company have been presented at The Classic Stage Company in NY and the New York Theater Workshop, and have been sponsored by NYC’s Shakespeare in the Parks Program.

The Director, Jim Calder, is currently a Master Teacher at the Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program at NYU.  He has directed plays in NYC at The Pearl Theater, Classic Stage Company and the Lincoln Center Institute.

The Actors – the lead actor, Andre Holland, is known for his roles in the movie “42” about Jackie Robinson, “Bride Wars,” “Miracle at St. Anna” and “1600 Penn” and many other movie and television credits.
Nikiya Mathis, whose New York Theater credits include:  Margie in the world premiere of Kirsten Greenidge’s “Milk Like Sugar” at Playwrights Horizons and La Jolla Playhouse; Shaunta Iyun and Shun in the world premiere of Tarell McCraney’s “The Brother Sister Plays” Trilogy at the Public Theater and McCarter Theater Center; Latonya in “Seed” at the Classical Theater of Harlem
Hannah Cabell: BROADWAY: A Man for All Seasons (Roundabout). By Car:
FROM TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE [NYC via THRUWAY – 20 minutes from Tappan Zee] Take I-287 West over Tappan Zee Bridge. Take the Palisades Parkway North exit. #13N. Continue on Palisades Parkway North to Exit 13. Make a left off exit ramp onto Thiells Mt. Ivy Rd. (you will be passing a Golf Course on your left). Follow to the end and make a Right onto Suffern Lane. Go straight for approximately 2 miles through traffic light (at traffic light Suffern Lane becomes West Railroad Ave). From this point, Garner Arts Center is 1/4 mile down on your right hand side.

FROM PALISADES PARKWAY [NYC via GW BRIDGE – 45 minutes from GW] GW Bridge upper roadway across bridge. Take Palisades Parkway North to Exit 13. Make a Left off exit ramp onto Thiells Mt. Ivy Rd. [If coming on Palisades Parkway from the North, make a Left off exit ramp and another Left at the light onto Thiells Mt. Ivy Rd.] Pass a Golf Course on your left. Continue to the end of Thiells Mt. Ivy Rd. and make a Right onto Suffern Lane. Go straight for approximately 2 miles through traffic light (at traffic light Suffern Lane becomes West Railroad Ave). From this point, Garner Arts Center is on your right hand side.

FROM RT. 304, RT. 303, & 9W NORTH Take Rt. 304 or Rt. 303 to 9W North. At first traffic light north of the Samsondale Mall, make a left onto West Railroad Avenue (KeyBank will be on the corner). Garner Arts Center is 1/8 mile down on your left hand side across from D & G Electrical.

FROM RT. 202 & RT. 45 From Rt. 202 and Rt. 45 intersection, go east on Rt. 202 for 2.2 miles and make a left onto Central Highway /Main Street (across from the Garnerville Post Office). At traffic light, make a right onto West Railroad Ave. Drive 1/4 mile and Garner Arts Center is on your right.

FROM BEAR MOUNTAIN Take 9W South. Pass Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw. At the next traffic light make a right onto West Railroad Ave. (Key Bank will be on the corner). Garner Arts Center is 1/8 mile down on your left hand side across from D&G Electrical.

Public Transportation
By Bus:
Take Short Line Bus from Port Authority to West Haverstraw. Walk North on Rte. 9W, passing Samsondale Shopping Plaza and Stop & Shop on your left. When you reach the traffic light, turn left onto West Railroad Avenue (Taxi Service and Key Bank on the corners). GARNER Arts Center will be 1/8 mile on your left, entrance is across the street from D&G Electrical.
